I am really pleased with the list of names of people who have kindly volunteered to speak for 10 minutes during the morning of the RethinkingICT day but I am now trying to confirm the plan for the afternoon. What I don’t want to happen is for attendees to have to select one workshop over another and so what I am considering is a much more fluid approach. My idea is to have several rooms available, each one dedicated to a particular topic relating to ICT. Each room could have a question or statement written on the whiteboard and attendees can come and go and add their thoughts and opinions via Post-It notes. It would be fantastic if each room was “Hosted” by someone who had a particular interest in the topic that is up for discussion in that room. Visitors to the conference could then circulate around, visiting those rooms that are of interest to them and therefore getting the opportunity to chat with others with similar areas of interest.
Initial ideas for Rooms are:
- Assessing ICT
- Early Years ICT
- Is the ICT past relevant to the ICT present?
- Digital Studies
Please let me know what you think about this plan for the afternoon. If you have any suggestions for a Room topic or would be willing to Host then please let me know.
